We review the Mirri Jumpsuit, a new style from Papercut Patterns!

When we saw Papercut Patterns released the Mirri Jumpsuit, inspired by their popular Meridian Dress, we couldn't wait to try it out in our Gingham Linen! With a similar wrap front tie detail to the Meridian Dress plus a chic wide leg cut and an optional short sleeve, this pattern is a must-make for jumpsuit fans. It could be easily dressed up for a special occasion or paired with sneakers and layered with a merino underneath for a casual everyday look!

The Mirri Jumpsuit by Papercut Patterns

The Mirri features the chic Meridian twisted wrap around tie detail and can be worn with or without sleeves. It's finished with a centre back invisible zipper with a back button and loop closure and has front and back neck facings.

We made the sleeveless version with full length pant option in a size four according to Layla's measurements and this used 2.7 metres of our Paprika Gingham Linen (140cm wide). This is a little more than the suggested amount given from Papercut as we wanted to match our checks along the front and back centre seams. We also used 0.5 metres of our Fusible Interfacing - Stayflex / White, a 40cm Off White invisible zip and one of our Trocas Shell Button - 12.7mm - Ivory.

If you use our Exclusive Gingham Linen and want to match your checks, take care to carefully line up the centre front and back bodice and leg pattern pieces, making sure the gingham checks line up at the centre seams where they will be sewn together before chalking around and cutting. We didn't follow the recommended cutting layout plan in the instruction booklet for this reason, so the cutting process was a little slower!

The beautifully designed instruction booklet from Papercut Patterns has wonderful diagrams, instructions and photos! We found the instructions very easy to follow and straight forward. Papercut classify this pattern as an Intermediate sewing level and we would agree as there are some parts (like sewing an invisible zip and arm/neck facing pieces) that would require some practice before tackling these steps for the first time!

Papercut suggest midweight woven fabric including cotton and linen for the Mirri Jumpsuit. We think our Exclusive Gingham Linen works beautifully for this style, lending a light drape for the wrap tie front and floaty wide leg cut. As well as being super easy to sew, linen fabrics have a lovely earthy feel, starting off crisp but softening beautifully in time with wash and wear.

We have so many juicy linen colours available at the moment, below from top to bottom is Celery Gingham Linen, Buttercup Vintage Finish Linen, Dusky Orchid Gingham Linen, Papaya Vintage Finish Linen, Duck Egg Bold Gingham Linen.
